------------------------------------------- Notes: (Circumstance) Originally "A Seeds Journey", "The Journey" is something of an intermission song. It's a mood 'bridge' between the ultra-loving unconditional compassion messages of "All Is One" and "The Path", and the sober tones of sorrow and then anger in "Behind The Wall" and "Recidivism". The "seed" is analogous of a seed of thought, and the trials and elations it might need to go through just to plant itself deep into our subconscious, only so that it can later start sprouting a realization on some future day when conditions are just right. Like a journey from one point to another, the song doesn't do much circling back, it mostly continues to move forward in mood and key. So far, genres in this song include (in order of appearance): Classical, Cinematic, Southern Blues elements, and Disco. Self-critical notes: This piece was originally quite short (with the mind that it would be added to over time to create a longer and longer "journey"). Initially only the classical elements existed. The song was about 2 minutes long and seemed overly cheerful for a journey full of experience. In the latest update, we've added the spartan soundscape at about 1:40 after the almighty boom of the kettle drum. The eerie flute sounds here are 'duduks', (Albanian Oboes). The song then works its way into a slow, lethargic crawl (which intentionally works the hihat rhythm to sound a little awkward and difficult). This takes us to a place where we feel an element of struggle. Shortly afterward at the stick clicks, a surprise element of inspiration takes us into a more energetic and optimistic passage which gradually builds into something of an exciting chase scene. At this point in the song, the journey has a lot of momentum, we're travelling fast, and nagivating elements of excitement and danger (in a very 70's 'flares and platforms' way!) I'd like to somehow make this disco chase part feel 'bigger', but for now it's a peg in the wall in terms of conceptualization. After the crecendo of the chase, we gladually bring the momentum back into a slow gliding sensation of freedom as the tension makes way for a peaceful sound. Shortly following this is a mood of wonder, achievement, and finally, rest. In terms of visual accompanyment, consider the following: It starts off before the guitar starts. the tiny intro bit is like finishing packing the suitcase.. Then the guitar starts and we pick up the bag and walking out the door (closing it behind us, we're refined, you can tell from the music). "Oh, hello Mrs.Jones!, fine day today!", the music is very slightly more tense as the strings first come back for a moment and there's a small pause part where maybe we're crossing the street and waiting for a car (slight danger element), and then back on our merry way, and up over a hill which we think (might) give us a view of our destination (you can tell by the music).. but then "it's just more street, yeah, that figures I guess, I shouldn't be disappointed, oh well", and we're on a way, still merry, but more down to earth (low grunty strings stomping along with it are our badge of seriousness and experience). And then we think we're there, lets get up over this hill, this MUST be it... BIG FANFARE!! .... boom.. (enter the duduks) oh boy... its a desert... wow ...that looks like a stark place... can i see ANYTHING out there??? wow.. the sun is warm today. *wipes sweat from brow and squints up at the sun* (there is a sound behind the duduks which is like a lense flare)... oh boy.... okay.. (The last duduk note is our protagonist's relenting sigh as they step forward into a stark and unforgiving landscape). The journey continues (with strings and slightly bigger drums).. ..Hard trudge trough the desert (feel like this some days? haha).. Feet dragging, slow slog.... Then, (stick clicks)... Inspiration strikes as the protagonist starts noticing a way to do a happy disco through the dunes, into some excitement, until finally we pull out into a gliding sensation as the momentum of the disco abates.. where are we? lets keep walking... we're in a better and more wonderous place now, the fanfare builds and then falls in triplets as we celebrate a sense of achievement and completion. ...the next song starts in prison... ..This isn't the smoothest transition, as the end of this song is quite victorious.. It remains to be seen if that will be something which needs addressing, and if so, how we should go about that.
