The Connection (All Is One) V1 I are you, you am me, all is one systemically so my smile is offered free in understanding duality. Bridge Our difference and suffering moves my heart to softening. Please forgive polarity of experience of reality. V2 I wish that I could set you free from all you fear conditioning. I love you unconditionally and I always will for eternity. ------------------------------------------- Notes: (Love - Forgiveness) From flying through the cosmos to staring up at it, this is our protagonist's "ah-hah!" moment, and it ends by the campfire. Originally called "All Is One", "The Connection", (neural or interpersonal, it works both ways,) is their letter to the universe of realization that we can't fight connection, that real connection requires love, that the only way to love properly is to forgive, that true forgiveness is for the self and then for others through EXTENSION of that self-release, and that forgiveness cannot be where fear is, fear must be processed first, and in the last breath that the ultimate decision for forgiveness is unconditional compassion ... presented in as short and sweet, yet succinct and interesting a package as I could imagine. I imagined it initally as just a music box, a guitar, and a tiny sweet voice. With no tiny sweet voices available to me as yet, I've done with it what I can for now. :) Technical Notes: This track is a 7/8 time signature for the most part. This gives it a bit of a unique feel. I decided that some campfire ambience promoted the intimacy and warmth, (romance?) of the message, and brings everything back down to earth in a primally human way. The chord progressions came from somewhere in my subconscious, it took me a while to realize it was probably Elvis's "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" which happen to fit over most of the verse parts (as a composer, that kind of thing happens a lot). By that time, I had already written the bridge. I've decided it's different in enough ways that it holds its own weight, and that Elvis's performance will provide the needed familiarity of mood so that people can feel like they identify a little with (or at least feel like they understand) this track immediately. This is something which should be considered when writing any music; a balance of uniqueness/strangeness and familiarity. We want to take the audience to new places to help them brave their journey of growth, but not such new places that even a mild fight or flight response is triggered. Enough of a feeling of safety is very important when going exploring. No-one enjoys feeling lost for too long.
